All the Health and Beauty benefits of Rose oil and Rose water

Rosa damascena, also known as the Damask rose, is a species of rose that is native to the Middle East and Central Asia. It is believed to have originated in the area around modern-day Damascus, Syria, hence its name. The Damask rose is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 2 meters tall and has clusters of small, fragrant flowers that range in color from pink to white. The flowers are followed by red or orange hips, which contain seeds.

The Damask rose belongs to the Rosaceae family, which includes a wide range of flowering plants, including many other species of roses. It is closely related to other species of roses, such as the wild rose (Rosa canina) and the cultivated rose (Rosa hybrid). Like all roses, the Damask rose has five petals and a unique floral structure that is characteristic of the family. The plant is hardy and can tolerate a variety of growing conditions, but it prefers well-drained soil and full sun.

Let’s explore all the ways rose oil can benefit you and your body:

How rose oil helps with skin problems

Rose essential oil and treating rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness, flushing, and bumps on the face. It can be triggered by various factors, such as stress, alcohol consumption, and certain foods. While there is no cure for rosacea, some people find that using products containing rose oil can help to reduce the symptoms of the condition.

There are several ways that rose oil may be able to help with rosacea:

  • Anti-inflammatory: Rose oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which may help to reduce redness and swelling associated with rosacea.
  • Antioxidant: Rose oil is rich in antioxidants, which help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. This may help to prevent the worsening of rosacea symptoms.
  • Hydrating: Rose oil is also hydrating, which can help to soothe and moisturize dry, irritated skin.

It is important to note that while rose oil may be helpful for some people with rosacea, it may not work for everyone. If you are interested in using rose oil to help with your rosacea, it is recommended that you consult with a dermatologist or other healthcare professional before starting any new treatment.

Eczema

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition that is characterized by inflammation, redness, and itching. It is a common condition that can affect people of all ages and can be triggered by a variety of factors, including genetics, environmental triggers, and irritants.

There is some evidence to suggest that rose oil may be helpful in reducing the symptoms of eczema. A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that a cream containing 2% Damask rose oil was effective in reducing the severity of eczema in a group of patients with atopic dermatitis. Another study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment found that a cream containing 5% Damask rose oil was effective in improving the symptoms of eczema in a group of patients with atopic dermatitis.

It is thought that the anti-inflammatory and astringent properties of rose oil may help to soothe and calm inflamed skin, reducing redness and itching. Rose oil may also have a mild antibacterial effect, which may help to reduce the risk of infections, a common complication of eczema.

Rose otto also helps against wrinkles

There is some research to support the use of rose oil for preventing wrinkles and improving the appearance of the skin. The study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment found that a cream containing 5% Damask rose oil was also effective in improving the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in a group of women with dry skin. Another study published in the journal Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology found that a cream containing 2% Damask rose oil was effective in improving the elasticity and firmness of the skin in a group of women with aging skin.

It is thought that the antioxidants in rose oil may help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, which can contribute to the formation of wrinkles and other signs of ageing. The anti-inflammatory properties of rose oil may also help to reduce inflammation and protect the skin from damage.
